Trans-Pacific Partnership Is No NAFTA, It’s Worse

Thought Off 129

The Trans-Pacific Partnership, as touted, “intends to enhance trade and investment among the TPP partner countries, promote innovation, economic growth and development, and support the creation and retention of jobs.” However, if you view the video, then do your own digging, you’ll realize it’s nefarious, at best. We suggest starting at Wikipedia, with the controversy first. In our opinion, what you’ll find at Wiki is tame, but it’s a good place to begin.

Also from Wikipedia, the Fast Track explained:

In the United States, the majority of so-called free trade agreements are implemented as congressional-executive agreements. Unlike treaties, congressional-executive agreements require a majority of the House and Senate to pass. Under “Trade Promotion Authority” (TPA), established by the Trade Act of 1974, Fast track (trade) Congress authorizes the President to negotiate “free trade agreements… if they are approved by both houses in a bill enacted into public law and other statutory conditions are met.” In early 2012, the Obama administration indicated that a requirement for the conclusion of TPP negotiations is the renewal of “fast track” Trade Promotion Authority. If “fast track” is renewed, then the normal treaty ratification and implementation procedure would be bypassed, and the United States Congress would instead be required to introduce and vote on an administration-authored bill for implementing the TPP with minimal debate and no amendments, with the entire process taking no more than 90 days.

Members of Congress have seen the research that shows 90% of Americans will see their income go down from the TPP while the wealthiest get wealthier.AlterNet

Stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership
Don't allow "Fast Track" to be applied to the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

To Stop The TPP, Initially, We MUST Stop Fast Track.

We mentioned this topic on the home page, and featured the video below.  Please watch it while not paying attention to “who” is presenting the content.  The content is far more important than the political leanings of the presenter.  The facts presented are that, facts.  To say those facts are outlandish, doesn’t do the outlandishness justice!  NAFTA on steroids, anyone?

The reason we’re promoting this video/content over any other is that it includes ALL the ‘evil’ that is now known, in one place.

Long story short, please don’t wear partisan blinders on this one, and the only bipartisanship we should seek from Congress on this issue is to kill it.

Please Consider Getting Involved

One more video (and transcript) that paints a slightly positive picture for Fast Track being a tough sell to Congress.

The Secret Government: The Constitution in Crisis (1987)

"The Secret Government is an interlocking network of official functionaries, spies, mercenaries, ex-generals, profiteers and superpatriots, who, for a variety of motives, operate outside the legitimate institutions of government. Presidents have turned to them when ..." (Starting @ 23:21)

Yet another warning ... *sigh* ...
and it seems not much has changed.
