The Commercial Vampire: 1898

The onslaught of department stores drove small businesses or ‘mom and pop shops’ out of existence, in 1898. Turning the corner, we’ve been saying the same thing in recent years about the likes of Amazon, Walmart, “direct-from-the-manufacturer” outlets, internet resellers, and many other “big box” chains.
